I know this has probably been covered.. I’ve been searching and googling and can’t find exactly what I’m looking for.
Matco was created in 1979 when “they” split ways with Mac tools, according to wiki. So that means they were the toolbox branch of Mac before that, and they didn’t use the name Matco?
I have an old Matco box that has Matco stamped onto the back (or the side?) but the word Matco is in the shape of the curved mAc logo. This suggests that it was made during the same timeframe that Matco and Mac were a partnership.
Would a guy order a box on the Mac truck and get a Matco box? And you couldn’t get an actual Mac box until 1979? How did it work?

I can’t find a pic of the Matco stamp on the back... maybe I should go out to the garage and take a pic
