I did a little garage sale shopping this week, and found this old Ward's drill for $1. (It works, too!) I did a quick web search when I got home, but I can't seem to find any info on it. Can anybody tell me anything about it?

That drill has the profile and general characteristics of a ShopCraft drill. Wards probably did not make their own, but rebranded others, and Shopcraft (or sometimes Shop-Craft) later became a part of McGraw Edison and probably did contract work for other brands. Check ebay or do a general image search for shopcraft drills.

Be sure to open it up and inspect the wires before use. There is a good chance it needs a new cord. For a dollar though, how could you go wrong.

Nice drill! Be sure to put a grounded cord on it though or you could be in for a rather nasty surprise when you fire her up.

Looks like a Shop Craft-made drill.
Here's my Shop Craft 1/4"er - it's a real sweet drill. Ran it for a year before I realized maybe I should inspect and service it. Took it apart, did a thorough cleaning and lube, then repainted the case in high temp silver. Would love to snag it's 3/8" bigger brother.

Here's a site where I found some info.
