Vintage Snap-On Toolbox

My dad passed away last year and we are working through selling items from his garage/shop. One item I’m really curious about is this Snap-On toolbox that I believe belonged to my grandpa at one time.

Does anyone know how old it is or what it might be worth? My sister and I are struggling with pricing on all these items we know nothing about!

I’m tempted to hang onto it, but I’m sentimental about a lot of things and I’m running out of room!

Is Duplex not Snap-On?

No. They were a mfgr of toolboxes. Hand tool mfgrs, such as Snap-on, didn't make their own boxes.

Snap on did not make their boxes back then, not until late 50s I think.

Sorry about your dad. I'm sure others on here would know better than me but I don't recognize that particular logo. Wondering if it might be a retro "anniversary" edition that Snap-on sometimes makes. I would have put it mid to late 40s or early 50s but the logo seems off. In any event unless it turns out to be some rare box with collector value it is somewhat small and in pretty rough shape I really wouldn't expect much value there (unfortunately). Do you have any idea when your grandpa may have been working with it that is what time frame was he in his 20s to 60s? That may narrow down the right period. It certainly looks 40s/50s aside from logo.

Thank you for your condolences. Those catalog images are really cool. I kept thinking the same thing about the logo- I wasn’t finding it anywhere! My grandpa was born in 1924. Since these were expensive I would imagine he got it a bit later in life? He died in 1992 when I was a baby, so I don’t know much about when he would have had this and used it. But I can ask my aunt for some more info! I wonder if she may remember it. Regardless of the value I’m super curious about it! I really just want it to go to someone who will appreciate it.

I would agree with 1940s on the box.
