Wall mount split system air handler

Working on split system install. Original plan was to build a plenum from the ground and set the handler on top of that.

To save floor space I am considering framing up an elevated platform suspended from the wall studs and setting the air handler on that.

Any reason not too? I see they make wall mount handlers designed to recess into stud bays and screw directly tothe stud, but I do not have one of those. Weight is a bit over 200 lbs.

No reason not to, if that’s what you want. Your air handler’s installation instructions show horizontal mounting configuration. If you are thinking of keeping it vertical, make sure you consider the additional height you’ll need to transition to horizontal ductwork. I chose to set mine on the floor so return air would be pulled from near the floor for heating purposes. There’s a video on YouTube of a guy that installed his Universal very high up on a wall in a small manufacturing shop.
