I have just completed my garage and want to start partitioning it off. The building is 42 feet deep and 32 wide. I already have the far right bay (12') set up for seperate shop area so I am concerned with the double wide area. The way the building is built, I can park up to two cars in the back and use the front area as daily drivers area. However, when I had this plan, I only had one car to store, so the area in the rear would have been more than enough. Also, I now want to seperate the daily driver section. My original plan was to put in a sliding wall, but I purchased another project and need to stuff both cars back into the rear corner. And get access to at least one of them.

So my question is: Has anyone put in a moveable section of wall, either sliding or hinged? I looked into the accordian type folding doors, and between price and the fact they still take up a bit of room when folded, I don't like that idea. My thought was a section of wall hinged on one side with a caster to support the weight at the other. Then I could swing open the wall. Other option is to install a garage door inside the building and use car dollies to slide one of the cars sideways.

Any ideas or thoughts?

What's the purpose of the wall? SEcurity, noise? I mean can you just hang a tarp as a divider or does it have to be a solid wall?

You could hang a sliding barn door set up in there I guess if you wanted solid walls. Or build a track system and make removable stackable panels tp attach to a rail type system, no?

Give us more info as to what where why etc.

Looking to seperate the daily driver half from the good car half. It doesn't need to be secure, but noise, heat and moisture protection would be desireable. I would also like some type of a mechanical barrier to keep stuff from the daily driver half from hitting the summer car. I think the sliding barn door idea would work. I was just curious if anyone has done something similar.

I use shower curtains to seperate my show bay from my detailing bay...My wife found the curtains with a race car scene and we hung the "finished" side towards the show room side....Water doesn't hurt them and when dusty, just wipe em off.
