I realize this is for my basement and not for the garage...but here it goes.

I have two simple can lights (65 watts each) on a wall switch. No problems, currently, except the switch is at the wrong end of the room. All I want to do is wire something to control the lights (ON/OFF) on a remote to put at the other end of the room.

Option A - Replace wall switch with some kind of remote operated switch. But can't find anything to fit my needs

Option B - Basement is a drop ceiling, so I have access above lighting. So I can wire some kind of remote box in-line before the first light bucket (second is daisy-chained). I tried a universal fan remote, but couldn't get it to work.

I've found lots of plug-in remotes, but nothing for a hard-wire situation.:shocking:

Is there any product to accomplish this?

Leviton and Lutron make several remote control dimmers, some come with, and will even work with your universal TV remote if it is RF capable.

Lutron makes a single pole hardwire replacement switch called the 'Spacer' it uses an IR remote that controls on/off/ and dimming.. I used one in my media room and it works great.

Part # SPS-600-WH they are about $60

The remote is not included they are about $30 part # SPS-FSIT-RP, but I just downloaded the IR codes from remotecentral.com and loaded them in my universal remote I was already using.
