We are going though a big reno right now and will also do the attached garage. One thing we need (since I have an "Ultimate Shop" already ;)) is a place for everyones coats, shoes, boots, gloves, hats, ski wear and more. We park our two cars in there all winter, but there's about 5 feet to the end wall and 2-3 feet on one side wall to use. Right now I'm thinking footwear all along one wall and built-ins for jackets, with some drawers for gloves, hats, etc. on the end wall.

I'd love to see some examples!

Here was my mudroom, we have over 20 coat hooks and an Ikea bookcase as a shoe shelf.

Here's a few ideas:
- Infrared lights on a timer to dry things out
- Long plastic drip tray with grid for boots to dry
- Oil-filled space heater below coat area
- Room exhaust fan to remove melt humidity
- 'Floating' bench above boot area
- Open cubbies; one for each family member
- Wall counter next to house entry for groceries/stuff
- Retractable line for drying scarves, gloves, etc.
- A bin for comfy slippers for family and friends
- A wall mural of a tropical beach LOL!

Sorry I didn't clean my mudroom out for the pictures! :lol_hitti

Mine was a breezeway until the garage was rebuilt, at which point it became enclosed. 8' wide x 20' long, cement floor. There's a door from the outside, one from the garage, and one into the house. We use it as the main entrance to the house.

It has some interesting cabinetry which works out great for wines and home-canned stuff that do best in a cool, dark place.

You can see 4 rectangular plywood cabinet faces on the far wall. My house sits on a 20" stem wall, but the mud room is at grade, so that back wall has a storage space that's 8'x8'x20" which is perfect for skis, snowboards, etc.

Since it's mostly empty space (during those few weeks of the year when it's actually clean :bounce:), I plan to add some shelves, cabinets, and a 24" deep by 8' wide countertop on the far wall in the future.

This is mine under construction...of course, my garage is separated from the house by a breezeway & I incorporated this space in my original design.....got Jerri's freezer & lots of shelves in there for her 'pantry items'....& a full bath.....it is 8x20 including the stairs to my 2nd floor gameroom under construction.

Didn't post pic because I knew my situation is different from yours.
