I'm looking at a Reznor waste oil heater, it's at a business that sells used cleanburn waste heaters. Their asking $500 for it and this is the first one in my area I've found. I'd like to mess around with one in my 1200 SF shop, I have a gas one installed already, no idea of the model.

i have a clean burn and love it,on a cold winter morning it will have my30 X 60 toasty in one half of an hour.just have to keep it clean and filter what you run thru it.my has been very low maintenence and cost effective,i haven't paid for heating oil in three years.

It would be way overkill for your shop. I would stay away from it since Reznor is a high maintenance unit with light fireboxes. If you have any questions please feel free to ask away I am been servicing all brands of waste oil heaters/boilers for 21 years.

A waste oil heater would probably not be a good choice for you due to your size of shop. The more they run the better. The more a waste oil heater sits idle the faster the oil starts to bake in the preheat block which means burner rebuilds more often.

Our omni is way undersized but it sits in unheated shop until we need it and let her rip, it's awesome, I think it is a 150k in a barely insulated 2500 soft shop.

Depending where you live 150k should be adequate for that size of shop.
