I've been wanting to make one for a few years now. I need to get on it, got about 100 gals. of oil .

I think the whole key is atomize oil . the dip style work just not as good and clean.

There no pictures, I build a fire out of wood, open the door spray oil in there. I've been thinking of just drilling a hole in the top of my stove, running a steel tube in, setting up a bucket with a ball valve and just letting it drip in while a fire is going. Not very elegant but will get rid of oil and make heat

Excuse my ignorance but does the oil create more heat than you'd get from burning just the wood? If not, what are the benefits apart from disposing of the oil?

You can usually get used oil for free, wood you have to pay for or have a place to cut it (which is time consuming and labor intensive).

yes, the oil burns hotter than the wood. i would like a drip system on my stove. it beats using a coffee can and throwing a pint of waste oil in every once in a while

I use it to get a fire going also.

I was in a commercial shop the other day where they a drip system going. Couldn't believe it, working on cars with this homemade wood stove sitting on the floor. A windshield wash jug bungeed to a post, half full of oil and a brake line out of the jug into the stove. TF

Best one i have seen used a truck brake drum with the center hole sealed of course with second drum with center removed ontop of that for the burning pot oil tank was under air pressure and they had air piped from a small fan directed at the burning pot looked like 1.5 inch exhaust pipe curved to make flame swirl

this was inside of home made wood stove that was then cover in tin making it look like regular furnace with squire cage fan to blow air down heat was amazing just looked time consuming and rather Redneck safe
