I'm looking for a fairly water proof, or at least water resistant, tool box. I don't mean something that will be submerged, but something to replace my hand box, that will keep driving rain and snow out. The boxes I've used either leak around the handle and clasps, or wind driven snow and rain blows up under the lip.

What's your budget?

I saw a few Chicago cases styles on clearance for $85-$100 that would be find for small to medium sized tool assortments.

One thing to think about with these boxes. You must have a lot of moisture absoring material inside, otherwise the contents will rust like crazy if the box is left outside. I have a watertight box that I keep on my boat, and everything metal inside rusted like crazy. Changes in temperature cause lots of condensation inside, and since it's sealed...it has no where to go. Within 4-5 months, a set of spare spark plugs I had, you could not even see the electrode.

probably worth it if you buy both for 250. i got one last year for 300 or so. I was / am a pro bicycle wrench (between jobs) worked as a team wrench last year. was over priced for 300, it looked identical to a friends jenson box, but was made with a much thinner plastic. the sears one i have (green, though looks the same) has chicago on the casters.

not sure about weather proof, because i drilled some holes to rivet some socket rails in. that and the craftsman logo was riveted on as well as the hinges etc. also rarely left it in the bed of my truck due to the value of what was inside. but was definately more waterproof then the bags that held my clothes.

How about ammo-cans?

100% waterproof, and VERY tough.

I just finished installing two large ones on my flatbed pickup as under-body boxes. :)

You organize the case however way you want. Those trays are intended to be versatile and adaptable so that there doesn't have to be a fixed organizational pattern to follow.
