Unusual German slip joint pliers

Just found these in a box of junk tools at an estate sale in Los Angeles. (paid $3.00)

Weber tools. Marked DRGM which Google told me is an abbreviation for Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster.

Has anybody seen this design before? Weber tools made it into the tool rolls of Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari and other manufacturers.
