What welders do you guys prefer or what do you use?

We use a Lincoln Electric 135 with 75/25 gas. Love to use it with the gas. Nicer and cleaner welds. A good place to get the gas in Ohio is Delille Oxygen near Marion Rd.

I use a "meh" craftsman welder that I bought off a friend that needed money and he thought it was a Lincoln. I have a campbell hausfeld flux wirefeed as well which is my main slag-slinger when I'm doing stuff outside and has stuck by me for several years. I don't like the feel of the gun on the C-man welder and the settings are inconsistent.

Ive owned 3 migs and 2 arcs. My favorite has been my hobart 140. That welder would do anything well. It was only a rare very heavy farm application that it was not great. I found nothing that the hobby guy or automotive related that it would not do well. I have a licncoln now but is not of the same level as the Hobart was. The worst was some Italian made piece of **** "astro mig" welder. JUNK!
I have been using flux core. I do not use my welderd too much anymore and sold my tank with another welder. Works great for the things I am doing now but if I were doing fine sheetmetal work much again I would be back on gas.

Miller is what I have.I think its just because I am partial to the True Blue.
Lincoln is also a great product.

Hobart 180 here plus oxy-acetylene for brazing. I sold my miller thunderbolt ac/dc.

Inverters are great if you get the accessories with them.

All the stuff is real expensive if you piece it together.

I have a Hobart Handler 175. I use C25 gas. I have no complaints. I also have an oxy-acetylene torch and a Parker cut 40 plasma cutter.

I prefer miller my second choice would be lincoln. I have three mid 80's millermatic 200 migs . In my opinion they are the best 250 amp mig miller has ever made. One of them has the skp-35 spot panel feature and is great rfor sheetmetal work. Also have a spoolmatic 1 gun setup for aluminium work... would love to get one of those python push pull set ups for this kind of work. My other welders are lincoln sp125, miller 330 abp with all the goodies, srh-333 with wire feeder, s-32 suitcase feeder, century 100 amp mig, miller 150s inverter, 120 volt mac mig welder, and a few more.

The guy that taught me has two MM200's from the 1980's. I used them a few times and they were A+ machines. I saw guys offer the owner brand new Miller 250's in an even trade and he refused.

How do you like the Diversion? The price is amazing on it--sells for less than the Econtigs, and it's a much lighter inverter unit. Have you used it with Aluminum?

Inverters are great!!! BUT don't ignore used older transformer machines. They are getting real cheap as the economy is taking a turn for the worse. I've seen very nice Miller Syncrowaves, DialArc HF's, Aerowaves, and Shopmasters sell for rediculously low prices. Many include full TIG options such as coolers, pulsers, and high performance torches (such as Weldcraft)

They're BIG, and will require an appropriate circuit, but they will last a lifetime. They don't have the fancy electronics, but then again, on many there are no expensive circuit boards to worry about either.
