The Wilton mania on here has succeeded in driving bullet pattern vise prices into the stratosphere, even in the far reaches of northern Idaho. Current craigslist ad:

Wilton Bullit Machinist Vice 3 1/2" jaw - $365

https://spokane.craigslist.org/tls/5372830548.html

Since I'm willing to settle for a Parker, Athol, Rock Island, et al, instead of competing in the Wilton bullet feeding frenzy, I'm not sure what I'd pay, but not that much.

I got very lucky. Back in 2002, Sears shipped me their "Industrial" vise with the picture (and customer service at the time) saying it was US made. It wasn't. It was made in China. Sears took it back and sent me a Wilton 8" Tradesman US made as a no charge upgrade. I almost fell over when it arrived. It's still new in the box, but I know a certain workbench that's calling its name.

Looks to be in pretty nice shape, and not too old. A C-0 model i believe. Global Industrial has it for sale for $565, so yea, the seller is a bit optimistic. I don't think it will sell for more than $300.

That's the rustiest looking "non rust" i've ever seen...

It won't sell, I guarantee it. There has been one listed in my area for literally at a minimum of 18 months for $375. Couldn't find the post, but it pops up for a second when I search for it,I probably used the (X) next to the ad so I could't see it anymore. Here is another gem from the same guy.http://nh.craigslist.org/tls/5365606392.html

People up here are ******* bonkers, I use check every day or so for new vises using the search bar on cl and the prices are insane. Prime example here, $250 for a probably chicom columbian. http://nh.craigslist.org/tls/5370092215.html

I used up my luck for the year when I managed to get my 9400 with swivel base for $50, the ad was up for an hour and IDK how I managed to get there first, but I did. Shame the prices are so bad, I would love to get one or two 3 1/2 jaw wiltons for my basement and another for my bench mounted to the wall of my garage. On the bright side, at this rate I could probably pay for my retirement by selling it.

Gad, the mania is even driving up Littletown vise asking prices. I personally wouldn't own a vise with an exposed screw, but $125 used to buy a real vise !!

I got a 1960-ish Wilton 3-1/2" from CL for $40 plus $15 shipping last year. I love it and plan on repainting it someday. The nerve of these people overcharging on CL.
