"This invention relates generally to chain tighteners, and more specifically to an improved chain tightener adapted particularly for use as a part of a pole-embracing assembly which includes a length of chain that is passed about a pole for the purpose of securing to the pole a linemen's work platform, a temporary cross arm or temporary side arm, a wire tong support, and various other structures and devices which are tem10 porarily attached to electrical conductor-supporting poles, the predominant object of the invention being to provide an extremely simple chain tightener of this type which is capable of performing its intended function of tightening a 15 chain about a pole or other supporting structure in a highly efficient manner.
