What are people using to protect their tools with when not in use? I am using TC-11 (www.tc-11.com) and it seems to work pretty good. Used to use WD40, but it seems to evaporate too quickly.

I clean my tools after each use so there is no grease on it ... TC-11 is suppose to be available from your local ACE hardware, but I ordered my from the web site ...brianpgriset said:I heard 3-in-1 is pretty good to use. Where do you get this TC-11 at. Looks like pretty good stuff.

Wow, pretty fancy garage .... you could live in yours ..bmwpower said:No rust problems now that I have a closed-in, insulated and heated/cooled garage. I don't wipe them with anything.
I have the HD and I find that it ius really too heavy for most tool applications. The regular stuff is great - much thinner. The HD is almost like a spray grease. that said, it has its place.z28toz06 said:Ibought some corrosion X HD today from my mac tool guy. I'll check it out tomorrow.
I hardly use my tools for my profession, but I have my own routine too... any tool that i use for a project gets placed on a large aluminum baking sheet and gets cleaned and wiped down before it gets put away. It's strangly therepeutic.TNToy said:My routine?
As I use tools for a job, I place them either in my service cart, or on top of my box. If it's had a greasy hand on it, it doesn't go back into the box.
When I'm done, I soak a red shop rag in brake-kleen and wipe all of my tools down with it. Sometimes, it takes two.
That's all I ever do. I suppose if they weren't all used frequently, or had a harbor-freight quality finish, I'd worry about rust, etc.![]()
