A friend told me today that his son in law wants to sell his snap on box due to being out of work. He says its a KRL1022PAW with a "cabinet on top"?? is there anything in particular i should look for or check?
The box i have now i've outgrown and it's quality resembles 10 sheets of aluminum foil that have been pressed together in the shape of a square.

Thanks

Also what is a reasonable price if it's in decent shape? i do not know how old it is.

Well i guess it's true what "they" say...The search feature is my friend...I found plenty of info.
I spoke with the guy and he said it has a couple of scratches and some dings in it since he did heavy equipment repair, it's a double bank with 12 draws and one full length top draw, SS top and a riser?? with a 2 door cabinet on top??
With one full draw that means it's a 1001 not a 1022 right?

He is asking $1500

That sounds like a screaming deal, as long as you can live with the scratches and dings. I think it is a 1001, as long as it's 29" deep.

Well i went and picked it up today...My buddy i spoke with about it was way off...It is a KRL7002APC and the top is KRW7554PC. It probably needs slides as the draws operate kind of rough, i pulled all the draws out (except the top...can't figure that one out). Since it has some rust bubbles on the top i offered 8 bills and he took it...Hope its a good deal. I will try to post some pics.

Probably don't need new slides. Just cleaning and regreasing them will most likely cure your problems. Also, the drawers in my brand new sidebox are a little stiff without any weight in them.

Congrats on the purchase.

Well, I removed all the slides from the cabinet and draws and cleaned them with diesel fuel...They are smooth as glass now, I did see a couple of bearings missing and those little grey pieces were broke

I would put some kind of "dry" or non dirt attracting grease on them before reinstall.

Well. Its all cleaned and drawers lubed up. Drawers roll great. All the specks seen are the over spray i couldn't get off. Now i need to find drawer liners, i check my local HD and couldn't find anything...Once those are found then the task of moving my tools over..

What do you want for drawer liners? Wally world has "woven" kitchen mat material that seems to work well, some opt for carpet runner material, cork sheet can be had at Lowes...

I will probably have to order something. The nearest wal mart, lowes or anything else is over 2 hours away. The only thing close to me is HD and Kmart, which don't have anything. I'm gonna try a local upholstery shop and see what i can find.

I guess living in the Keys does have some disadvantages:mad:

What a deal. Nice box. Looks really good since you cleaned it up. Wish I could run across something like that.

Hoodlumhurt, i live in Marathon as well...Nothing has changed... I rode an hour to sears and found exercise mats that worked perfect! they are made to put an exercise bike on and the size was 48x84x1/4. It has a diamond plate design on one side and the other side is flat, got them on clearance for $15.99:thumbup:
The only problem i had was using the "hansen" 1/2" drive socket holders...with the mat the drawer wouldn't close...so i trimmed the mat out around the bottom and that did the trick!!

As you can see i put the flat side up. The trays i trimmed out is on the far left and far back....I have to work on my organization a little bit:shocking:

That's a beautiful box for sure! You got one hell of a deal on it too.

Nice tool box, cross that off the bucket list.
