What type of coating?

Ok, here's the deal. The wife got ducks. So we're building a Duck Haus. We're tight for time as we haven't had weekend to work on it and they're starting to get pretty big. Is there something I can put down that'll hold up to webbed foot traffic and ***** matter? I don't have to to etch or grind or anything time consuming. Or will anything I put down be a waste of time?

I had good luck with the HD Rustoleum water-based two-part epoxy after a quick acid wash, wire brush scrubbing and then chucking a box of baking soda on it to neutralize it. Even with that it would take a few days to get a good coat down.

Howsabout the heavy vinyl diamond design parking mats? Tape two together and it will hold up to whatever the ducks throw at it. Costco has them periodically. Not sure how big your area is. One might do.

Grandpa's ducks camped out night's in an old dog house with a wooden floor (and no dog).

They'll be ok with that, once they get the routine down.

***** - a lot more problem, eventually the coatings/concrete will fail unless you wash it out a couple of times a day. Not good for it to stack up, either - so you need to find a way to deal with it.

fowl have some pretty strange requirements to keep them healthy. and to keep things from spreading to other birds and even sometimes, to the humans.

County agents, if you have them, are really a great source of information, but they will want you to follow best practices to prevent disease and it's spread.

I'm not too worried about the ducks. But I am concerned about the floor. Bedding will take care of the ducks. But I'm guessing the poo will permanently stain the concrete, so I was hoping for something I could throw down in a few hours at the most.

Hi our Prep Crete Division is also an installer for Duraflex. They have a super fast drying product called Accelera that would work. It's not cheap though.

(2) coats of our Nohr-Prime. A few hours between coats and done.
