I've loved my Milwaukee m12 fuel impact and m12 3/8" ratchet. I wasn't sure how often I would use the electric ratchet, but now it's one of my most used tools.

Definitely going to have to go with my knipex acquisitions for the year, 7" plier wrench (might pick up another one in that size), 7" and 10" cobras have all been great additions to my tool box! (though they stay in the tool bag almost exclusively lately)

My best purchase/trade 2016 was getting my 123# anvil. A real anvil. I have been forging and shaping knives on several railroad track pieces, never again what a difference a real anvil makes, love it. This year's plan for that area of the shop is to up grade my forge to something more like a real forge.

Best things I got this year were Knipex 10" pliers wrench, and a cheap circuit breaker finder from Harbor Freight. The breaker finder was hardly used until two of my buddies each bought houses this summer and we had to map out their poorly labeled panels.

My Bosch rotary hammer was also a good purchase, although I wish I'd waited and bought the German made model when it went on sale.

The best purchase I made this year was definitely my PH3050 Snapon air hammer. Got it on a deal with a free set of SO chisels. I didn't know what I was missing until I got this thing. Countless wheel bearings and a concrete wall later, it has definitely already paid for itself.

I know I bought stuff this year, I seen me do it. But I can't think of anything really exciting. New batteries to keep my cordless tools going is about all I can think off.

Wow. Added a lot of tools to the board in 2016!

Among the favorites:
19.3 Li-On batteries for my Craftsman cordless stuff...really woke them
Up.
Montezuma toolbox and WeatherGuard Pack Rat tool boxes. Love the storage and organization they provide to my truck.

Load Pro meter leads and book. The leads are great and the book is a great reference tool.
I do a lot of electrical troubleshooting over the phone...book is a great tool to convey things to people who don't understand electricity as well.

Diablo thick metal blades for reciprocal saw.
Amazed how useful and long lasting they are.

I wonder what 2017 will bring?

Well, the thread was started in 2015, so my best purchase of 2015 was my 19" x 80" LeBlond engine lathe.

If you move on to 2016, my best purchase was my Mitsubishi forklift.

If you include non-purchased, but still acquired, my late paternal grandfather left me his toolbox full of treasures. My living maternal grandfather gave me a wilton 2" baby bullet we found in his barn. 'Twas a good year in tools, especially ones with some heirloom significance.

Expensive year for me. Wild hair purchase at a pawn shop of a Snap on Modis Edge. Always wanted a good scanner.

Then won on ebay for just shy of 1000 for a Snap on Vantage Ultra. Then got a new S/O low amp probe. Didn't think I'd win it but got it anyway. Luckily my wife was understanding.

Then I bought a used robinair AC machine. My wife's Acadia had a rear evaporator go out so I kind of buried the cost of the machine in the cost of fixing the vehicle. This has to be my favorite purchase of the year because I can now properly do AC work on a car.
