What would you call this?

I saw this in the neighborhood and I need some stone just like this. I had some similar left over from the septic but I don’t need more of that as it was pretty expensive.

What would you call this? I’d like to get some bids for a truck load. And is it normally by the yard or pound?

Looks like $450 in 1" clean gravel. Maybe more where you buy your aggregate.

In the ONW it’s sometimes called river rock or 1.5 inch plus. It’s about $30-40 a yard if you have a good size trailer to have a yard or two or more dumped into your trailer.

Having it delivered is maybe close to $100 fee and they charge about 50-60 per yard.

I have an old 1980 4x8 Fruehauf utility trailer that holds about 1.5-2 yards of gravel max cause I’m pulling with a 2003 Honda pilot.

I agree it’s nice rock for landscaping and a few months ago I brought home a few yards (2 trips) to wheelbarrow it under our rehabbed deck

Around here it would be washed river rock and goes for the same price ~$35/yard, but $160+/hr for hauling.

It is called "River Rock" around here. Stuff that size probably priced around the same as gravel, sold by weight.

I'd call that a whole lot of work that I'd rather not be doing.

I'd call it a pile of rock. Clean rock, but rock nonetheless.

Out between Austin and Houston, I called a couple of places and asked about rock. They said “what do you mean rock? We have sand and road base.”

And the road base seems to be dirt and rock they dig out of their back pasture.

Find a quarry or a supplier to landscape or road construction companies and get decent product and pricing. And it’s great exercise

"River rock" around here is usually more multicolored. One ton is equal to about .75 yards.

But yeah that's river rock. Smooth rounded rocks.
What are you using it for?
It's not good for driveways because it wont pack. It's too round and will just roll around.

I’m using it to dress out some areas around the cabin. Pathways and such. Otherwise, it’s sticky clay.
