When to use type V vs M

I just picked up some more type v fittings for some new tools and I got to thinking about the money I could save using type M plugs (they fit into type V couplers) on those tools that do not benefit from the higher flow.

I have type M fittings on my air nailers and staplers, etc.

So what other tools could use type M plugs (and save me a little $$$$)

The type M plugs really don't fit the Type V couplers. Try it and you'll see they wobble around a lot and they shorten the life of the Type V couplers as they eat the O-rings in the couplers. JBToolSales sells the Type V plugs pretty cheap so I don't know how much money you would save anyway.

We use M type on everything in our shop (1/2" impacts and HVLP) and all works fine... my two cents.

Air lines are the highest source of restriction anyway... due to length. Milton says the V is higher flow, but at low-pressure (assuming HVLP range, ~ 30psi). No mention of flow difference at higher pressures (typical shop 100-120 psi).
