Where Did My Thread Go?

I started a thread about "Riding Solo" yesterday. I thought I'd check back in to see if there were any replies, and it's gone.

Did I do something wrong? Did someone start something and it got deleted?

My sentiments exactly. I would have liked to have cleaned it up and re opened it for you but the fear is the same people would hijack it again.
Another Mod made the move to close it so I am thinking they came to the same conclusion.

Sometimes people can take a thread and turn it into something it wasn't meant to be about at all. A lot of it has to do with the title I think but I didn't see anything wrong with that title. Maybe my mind isn't as far in the gutter as others ???

I still feel that it would be polite for the mod's to drop the person a pm to tell them that their thread had been closed and why. I had a thread closed and no one said ****. Richard

I try to notify most. Some times that does not go over well and ends up with multiple PM's about why can you not fix it. In this case fixing it would take to much time and then I did not close it so it is not for me to say I can open it or fix it. So some times a topic closed is best not mentioned as it only starts another topic on why was my post removed.

In some cases the rule breakers do get suspended or even banned but that also depends on what has been said or done. Many times people have simply not read the rules and one that is broken the most is politics & religion.

Yes it would be nice but I expect that the mods see a LOT of stuff that has to be dealt with and just deal with it. For a volunteer job adding the additional burden of an explanation is a lot to ask. I think the mods are doing a great job of keeping the place neat and presentable and a cut above some of the nasty cutthroat forums available.

The paycheck thread, I closed it. The last four posters took it off topic towards politics. One or two posts I would have edited it but when it was the last four, I deleted it as opposed to edit/lock.

As far as sending a PM, I used to try to do it all the time. But it comes to a point of why waste my time of sending a PM out when I get nothing back, even a simple acknowledgement of the PM.

Sometimes posts are deleted. As a regular user, you're not going to see them like a Mod or Admin will. This is why members don't understand why they get closed/locked or edited but many times, it's crytal clear to the staff of GJ.

Unfortunately, a lot of knuckleheads take threads into "politics" territory, so the mods have to be diligent or else the place would turn into a big sewage pit of politics and stupidity.

Well said Larry, I couldn't agree more - the GJ is great forum and the mods do a fantastic job of keeping it that way.

Well said Larry, I couldn't agree more - the GJ is great forum and the mods do a fantastic job of keeping it that way.

That is the sort of comment we do appreciate keeping this place on track as often a closed topic gets so much nasty feedback.
