Which 3/8 cordless impact

Im looking to get a 3/8" impact, I already have the older Milwaukee cordless 1/2 drive 450 ft lbs, non fuel version.. its great, but too big/powerful for a lot of things. Also have the Milwaukee M12 cordless 3/8 ratchet, but its really more of a nut spinner, not enough power to break a lot of fasteners loose like brake calipers etc.

Any experience with either of these m12 models? which would be more useful and get into tighter spots under the car or under hood?

Definitely the 2554. Smaller and more torque. I’ve only used mine with a 2.0 battery, it does lug nuts on my car just fine.

My non fuel 3/8 m18 will remove the lug nuts off my 1ton dump. If you want more torque the fuel 3/8 puts out a bit more. But they do make a mid torque m18 3/8 gun thats way smaller than the huge 1/2in guns.

I have a few other m12 tools, jigsaw, 3/8 ratchet non fuel versions.. I think the batteries are the older style. One tool i got bare so I could use an extra charger and the new style batteries. Thanks for looking out though.

The first one is for 6mm machine screws with a 10mm hex head.

Both are good and i work with people who use the 1st option daily.

I have the 2nd (the stubby) and it came as a kit with a 2 & 6ah battery. I much prefer the 6ah, it lets the tool stand up as well as longer battery life.

Get some low profile 3/8 sockets to go with it.

The 1st option is very similar in size to the m18 fuel compact impact, which is also excellent.

I have the compact M18 Fuel 3/8 impact. I thought it would be the a perfect light weight gun for lug nuts, but the problem is that all the lug nut impact tools are 1/2” drive. So now I have a new impact w/ over priced rubber boot that seldom gets used. I could always just use an adapter; just wish I had waited a little longer and I wouldve gotten the stubby. My aluminum wheels only get tored to 95ftlbs anyways

I believe I also read in some YouTube comments that the thinner walled Gray Pneumatic Duo sockets also are as thin or thinner than some specific lug sockets. With a layer of red electrical tape for protection you can have some extras of specific sizes for lugs and not have any potential torque losses with the flip socket adapter.

I have three cordless 1/2" impacts. I'm considering selling all three and getting a couple of the 3/8" stubbies and using the Snap On set for my lug needs.

You should buy an adapter and enjoy your tool. I've used the Sunex 3300 with mine for 5 years now with no problems. I have a full Sunex 3/8" impact kit but it's buried in my box and I rarely use it. I like using the adapter since my 1/2" impact sockets are on a tray ready to go. Plus, if the Milwaukee won't take something off, which is rare, I've already got a 1/2" socket ready for my IR W7150 or breaker bar.
