Hi All,
Hoping some of you HVAC gurus can help me out. I have a small workshop in my garage from my recent home remodel. Its a pie shaped room but I would say it is no bigger than 250 square feet (it is small...) The room is 10 feet high and it is very well insulated. it has insulated double doors opening into the larger garage area and a single insulated door to the outside. I had it framed to house a standard PTAC unit above the door to the outside (16 1/4 x 42 1/4) and I've got it pre-wired with a 30 amp 230v outlet ( my outlet takes a large tandem NEMA6-30R plug)
Based on what I've been able to find online, the GE PTAC units are recomended. So with that in mind i'm looking at the absolutely smallest one they make, 7K unit should be more than adequate I expect... I do care about noise level and I'm as sensitive to small running cost differences - ( so I would rather not spend $400 more up front to save $10-20/year in electricity if you know what I mean)
Not sure about the three different options though, and whether it makes sense to spend more money as they go up.
I live in Indiana so we get some hot humid summers and moderately cold winters, Zone 5.
Here is what I'm looking at:
AZ41E07D - Deluxe series, cooling + resistive heat
AZ41E07DAP - Dry Air 25, cooling + resistive heat
AZ61H07D - Series 61, Heat pump + resistive heat
The dry air option looks interesting, the fan seems to turn more slowly so I thought maybe that would be less noisy, and it removes alot more water.
If there is another brand I should be looking at as far as quality goes please let me know your thoughts.
