These kits are basically a reflector that has cut outs for new lamp holders. It appears you remove the existing lamp holders, all wiring, the existing ballast covers, and piggyback these onto the remaining light housing. Seems like a lot of work and a waste of time.
For the price, there is no way these are quality ballasts. The ballast brand appears to be "Espen" which I've never heard of, and they give interchange with existing, common ballast brands, Universal, Advance, Sylvania, and GE.
This is their best replacement for two 8 ft T12 lamps that are not HO. This will give you four standard T8 lamps in tandem. I assume you have the open strips of T12 8 footers. I removed mine and gave them to the Habitat ReStore to install new T5HO fixtures.
This one appears to be the same except they specify that it uses 54 watt T8's which are High Output bulbs (though they do not say so)
Any of the 4 bulb kits would best mimic what you have now, except brighter. I cannot see the 6 bulb kits unless you want a lot of light in one area. Personally, I'd go with the T5HO kits If I had to chose one.
I honestly think you would be better off to scrap your old fixtures and replace them. I can see these kits not fitting and then what would you do?
