I've seen some references here and there to having a whiteboard in your garage. We live off whiteboards in my office and it got me thinking, why not paint a wall or section of wall in your garage with whiteboard paint (expensive or cheap)?

Because you can buy a whiteboard too cheap to even bother.

Craigslist you can find them all the time- one suggestion don't get the plastic ones get the magnetic ones, the surface is less porus and cleans better. I have had both and really wish I had the magnetic one back.

A piece of glass painted on the back side will also work well and wipe clean better than the plastic ones.

haha, or you could be like me, i use a sheet of glass, well actually an old sliding glass door half, with a cheap black light behind it. its only single paned tempered glass though. thats the reason i was paid to replace it for a neighbor. with some black light markers i already had it looks awesome. but its acutally in my bedroom

When I moved into my new classroom, it had only chalkboards that were 30+ years old. I wanted white boards but was told there was no money for them naturally. I went to Lowes and bought two 4x8 sheets of white paneling type material. It had no grooves etc and may have been shower liner. Cost was ~$14 a sheet. I used self tapping screws and put it directly over the old chalk boards. Doesn't clean up quite as good as a "real" white board, but works fine for me.

I bought a 4x8 whiteboard at a Garage sale for $5. Hung it up in the shop. It's awesome! Not only is it a great way to leave notes for each other, it also work s great for sketching ideas etc.
