This past weekend I hoisted all of my landscaping equipment up to the attic over the garage and got down my TORO snowblower. I haven't actually started it yet but I'm sure she'll be just fine. I'm crazy about prepping everything before I put it away, so I"m sure I just need gas and she'll start up right away. Anyway, I'm looking forward to blowing some snow (and maybe going sledding soon) but am not crazy about dealing with the cold Chicago weather/traffic. Everyone else still in denial or are you ready?

I'm excited for it. It's finally getting colder here in Washington. was in the low 30's today. I need to get some snow tires for the daily. Can't wait to have some fun in the snow with it.

Bought a circular heat dish from a friend today, so working on the car in the carport won't be too bad this winter.

Almost ready, and it has been a race since July. Got the septic in, got the floor in the equiptment shed in, so the lawn mowers and snow blower are under cover.

I Got such a super price on foam insulation that I cleared out the second floor, finished the wireing and got the drywall hung. No heat and I need to tape, but It will become a temporary wood shop for the rest of the build. All the JUNK that was up there wound up under the 22x26 shed overhang. All the saved and salvaged building materials plus the residue of car parts from 35 years of Fiats. That may not seem like it would be much, but after I sold off the useful stuff, there was still a stack of cylinder heads and cam towers that made a 3x3x3 pile.

Last weekend I sorted that stuff out and ran a number of truckloads to the Transfer Station. Moved the cabinets and furniture to the back of the garage, and reorganised. A couple more hours, and I will have two parking spaces out of the snow.

Then I have to sort out the garage... Just so I can go back to work on the building without the threat of winter spoiling my good times.

Hawaii and California, Ha,Ha. When the ice on the Hudson gets to be feet thick, we go ice sailing. It's all paradise, ours just came with a freezer.

It must be really weird to not have snow for Christmas? I have only seen 1 green Christmas in my life and it was in Maine of all places.... was the first one there since the early 1900s.

Supposed to be 55 here today:thumbup:
I still need to split wood and get it piled under cover. Snow tires are on the ol ladies car, got some put on wheels for my truck but haven't put them on yet. Plow and counterweight need to go tractor.

Beautiful West Michigan
Put away the mower, rakes, and left over leaf bags yesterday and pulled the snowblower up from one of the storage buildings. Have some fresh sliders to pop on the rascal. Also got some fresh tires on a couple of the cars over the last two months.

The woolly caterpillars in West Michigan were approx 50% brown, 50% black.

Any of you guys know what the Farmer's Almanac would make of that? (No Googling)

No snow here yet. :)
This is the best part of having snow. :bounce:

I agree. I love the change of seasons. I always look forward the the first snow. There's few things cooler than building a fire, kicking back with the wife and watching the snow come down.

Nope, not ready. I hate the winter. A lot.

My hand-me-down Craftsman snowblower beats the HECK out of hand shoveling, which is what I did on my long, uphill driveway for the first seven or so years that I lived here. But, the damn thing has some issues...snow chute keeps rotating from vibration, for example, so I always have to keep one hand on the rotation lever.

I would prefer to be digging a hole all day in 90 degree temps to standing in the bitter cold for even just a half hour any day of the week.

I would say I am as ready as I can be, the blade is on the four wheeler and the snowblower is tuned and ready to go. All I have been working on for people the last two weeks is snowblowers (getting a little old).

The older I get the more I dislike winter. I don't like what it does to the vehicles and I worry about my wife and son driving in it with all the idiots out there. If it weren't for a little snowmobiling during the winter to get my fix I would go out of my mind.

If it were to snow Christmas Eve and Christmas day and maybe even stick around until New Years then clear up and back to the 70's that would be fine with me. Mike.

I got the snow blower prepped over a month ago. Still haven't gotten the landscape equipment cleaned a fully put away. I think I won't have the time. I have house projects that have to be done by Christmas.

as long as 4hi works on the Sierra, I'm all ready. We had one snow back in October, but there were flurries this morning on the way in to work. The only part of winter I don't like is having a driveway long enough to park cars 2-wide, 3-deep, and no snowblower yet to clean it off :(

We need the cold here to kill the extra bugs and harden off the trees. I don't mind the cold, its the slushy sloppy mess that we usually end up with.

I think I'm ready....ready or not winter is coming! Leaves are all picked up....I have about 30 trees and I do about 2 1/2 acres of grass. I am always glad to see all the leaves down and picked up, and in the woods composting. Lawn and patio/deck stuff put away or covered...I think I have enough fire wood for this winter and I have just started to cut for next year. I too, enjoy the seasons just don't like the winter heating bills. Everyone here on TGJ have a safe, and good holiday.

I've still not got my leaves up yet as we've had the wettest November since records began here. Had our first cold night earlier this week, about -5C.

Somehow it is 68 degrees here right now... perfect day to have new garage doors installed! I cleared and mowed the yard last weekend for what I thought was the last time, but some high winds blew more leaves in from somewhere. Maybe I'll just blow them back across the street into the neighbor's yard! Lawnmower & backpack blower emptied and cleaned. I stole a lightly used Ariens pro on CL last month and it is ready to throw the snow, but I'll enjoy this weather while it lasts.

I do that. My lazy a$$ neighbor never rakes her leaves. They always end up blowing into my yard. I just blow them back to her these days.

It's time to but the snowblade back on my Bobcat, but it just takes a minute.

Finally got our first decent snow up here yesterday. Not enough to complain about, though, only a couple inches.
I'm looking forward to winter this year, I have a growing number of snow-clearing customers for my business. Bring on the white stuff!! :D

Shed is up and roofed, walls are closed up, still need battens though (will update the shed thread soon). Need to put boards up on the front and construct the doors for the garden shed half (hopefully that will happen this weekend if I can get the wood) and get the garden equipment evicted from the shop, but finally, last weekend saw the wood get all moved in under cover!

Yard is cleaned up - toys and **** put away (except for what the kids have re-dragged out). Kids are getting good use out of the swingset we were given a few weeks ago (nice for them to have playtime on it before the snow comes). Leaves are maybe 40% cleaned up. Snow tires are finally all on (changed out mine last weekend when we had some snow forecast).

Ew.... no thanks. 'Sides, the deer don't come 'round when it's hot out! If you get cold, just walk around for a few minutes and you warm right up. Digging around here means 18" of roots, then solid, wet, sticky, soupy, heavy clay. I dug a 4x4x4 hole for a tower foundation last summer (on Canada Day, of all days) and holy ****, that was a *****. Digging by hand just ***** (though I'd rather dig 10 holes than go up on one roof).

I am ready, but my muscles after today’s rid at Pinnacle trail on the Glenn hwy may not agree. I have wanted to go for awhile due to last years lack of riding.
Bring on the snow.

Just spent an hour making sure the well and pipes were all wrapped up/insulated. It was 28f last I checked tonight, don't want a repeat of last year with a cracked pipe. If I have time this weekend I am going to crawl under the house and insulate the hot water pipes. It takes too long to get hot water in the 1890 hose.
