You'd think the Snap On guy or any tool truck for that matter would set up in a saw the parking lot of a grocery store (or a car dealer) from 7:30am to 10:30am the second Saturday of the month and operate a mobile retail outlet for non-techs.
Anyone ever see a tool truck guy/gal do that?
Think it would violate the contract.
They are given specific routes with certain customers.
My guy is so busy that he is happy with current route and would not want to waste a Saturday if he was not doing work on truck he would be fishing.
Been on the truck several times when non techs come on, they are lost do not have a clue. Often the first word is that is too expensive.
The snap on guys have a captive audience a route to follow that regular non assigned clients can find him.
My guy been going this for 30 years and he has a following of disgruntled tech that had been screwed over by an other dealer. The call him they visit the truck on the route they get serviced by a good snap on dealer.
Since I consult from the house my dealer will visit my shop once every month or so just to see what I have added to the collection, just need to make parking for him.
The best way is to become friendly with a good responsive dealer.
The major problem with retail is there going to hire a 18 year old to work the sales floor and how much is he going to know.
I get to swap info and ideas with my Snap on guy, having a retail setup would be like going to Home Depot and having the sales people ask you how something operates. Which is a regular occurrence for me at Home Depot & I do not wear any orange.
