I set up a 3D printer bay in the corner of my Faraday cage (i.e. steel shop} assuming an X2D would be powered by cable from shop computer - that could sit by shop window looking towards house. Of course, NO cable connection and the printer struggles to make a decent connection to house. I have similar problems with cell phone, that I usually leave by window on the valve grinder. So: if I buy a signal booster, where do I put it? Assume in window space as per all other wireless devices?

A range extender you may get from Walmart (staples or target) like TP-Link AX1500 placed at that window may be a solution to echo the signal inside the building. If you use your cell phone wifi near that window inside the garage can it connect? If so this would most likely work. If you have an Android phone a "WiFi Analyzer" app provides visual clarity on frequencies and signal levels as you walk out to the shop.
