I've been really wanting the Wiha Ergostar hex keys, well mainly just for their holders. I think they are the coolest **** ever. But I couldn't justify buying another set of hex keys which I rarely use at home anyways. I mostly use hex T-handles at home & hex sockets at work. And for the machines/tools I do need to use hex keys on at home I have dedicated keys for them at the machines.
In case you aren't familiar with the holders, when you twist one of the keys, they all rotate outwards. No more having to move the next size up (and sometimes multiple) out the way to access the one you need. Adds a bit of bulk but I'm ok with that.
Price dropped to $45 for the pair of imperial & metric on Amazon, lowest they've ever been according to the 3 camels, but was out of stock. I placed that order in Sept. They never did ship & after 2 months I doubt they were ever going to.
Then came Black Friday which I haven't fell for in years. I just happened to visit Wiha's website for some strange reason which I never do. They had free shipping for orders $49.99+ (normally $99) & at $49.00 a free USA made multi-n-1 screwdriver. Wiha does sell the Ergostar holders individually. Ok, great, 4 holders & added a couple of other screwdrivers that I didn't need to meet the minimums.
That worked out better for me. Now I wouldn't have yet another complete set of hex keys that I really didn't need. Bought 2 sets of imperial & metric so I could use the holders for my Bondhus regular & stubby sets. The Wiha hex keys might be better quality (?) but I'm ok with what I have & it saved me a lot more money.
Did I mention I really like these holders & I think they are cool as hell!
