This says it all....................

These will not put out enough light to preform detailed work. They are the type of light you see in a parking garage. They are designed to spread light very broadly and actually not project much light downward, thats what the photometrics graph is showing you, is where the light goes to, its mostly horizontal.
Remember, these are slow to start and warm up, if the power goes out, it takes about 5 minutes to restart, and as noted, if they are well used, the bulbs may be pretty well gone and need replacing. Its a **** shoot with used MH lighting.
These are 12½ inches high so at best, they will hang to 9 ft, and depending on how you mount them, they will hang lower than that.
They are not designed for a shop you work in, but would be good under a lean to shed where you store equipment or in a pole building used for storage. I would not want to try to work on cars under the hood with these lights.
