Wilton Bullet 101028 model Questions

Hi Everyone,

I am a regular viewer on this forum, but a first time poster. I have recently become the owner of this Wilton Bullet vise and I'm looking for some information regarding it.

1. The key underneath is stamped 172, so I'm assuming January 1972, right?
2. It is stamped 101028 on the main body and 101027 on the jaws. Is this normal or were pieces swapped?
3. Did this model come with a base and swivel? If so which model number should I look for.
4. I don't foresee myself selling this, but what would the value of this vice be?

The 101027 and 101028 is just casting numbers for the pieces. I have the same vise but with a swivel base. Yours is a 400N. The swivel base can be added or perhaps yours is missing but the vises is basically the same. The 400S has a dowel pin in the middle of the base to center itself on the swivel base.

Value is all over the place. I've seen people list similar vises from $100 to 400. $100 is mostly a parts vise unless you're lucky. I paid $50 for mine and only needed a good cleaning. Being yours looks to be complete, no obvious signs of abuse, and doesn't have a drive by paint job, I would say it's worth around $200. Not being a swivel model hurts the value a little. If you restored the vise correctly, $300 is possible.

I appreciate the feedback. Mine as well has a dowel pin hole in the center of the base. Would this mean this was in fact a 400s that came with a base?

I haven't looked at a N series in person but I would wager Wilton made the N and S series exactly the same and just added the swivel base. It makes more sense to have one production line making the same vise than running two lines and drilling/casting the hole for the swivel.
