It was short cycling so I cleaned the filter. Now it never turns off. The compressor turns off but the fan doesn't even though the thermostat is higher than the temp

Does it have a "fan only" setting that might have gotten turned on by accident ? I have a small window unit for the garage and it does.

Unit ever been pulled and cleaned. The outside coil could be very dirty. They get dirty from the side of the fan blade.

If you turn it off and it still keeps running then something is obviously stuck or broken. Maybe just maybe with an actual model number someone might be able to help you figure it out.
