Here's a little wiring station that we are in the process of setting up for building production wiring harnesses up in the loft of our shop. Full article linked to our blog at the bottom (which also has larger images). As some background we're just a small home based performance fabrication and design shop. We have a fairly wide variety of projects that we work on at any given time, so we like to build smaller work areas in our shop so we can accomplish a wide variety of low cost prototyping. We'll be sharing them all here on the forum and on a number of other home shop enthusiast and automotive forums.
We'd love to have your comments and suggestions. Our next steps are to set up a spool rack with some eye-bolts and adel clamps to have simple access to all of the cable sets, conductors and wiring loom.
We also need to build some sort of quick interchange device for the top of the table (standoffs and de-sta-co clamps or something similar) to allow us to put a nailboard on the table and hold it down while building one of many different harness designs.

Engine Management and Electronics Lab
We spent some time over the last week building a number of stations in the loft of our shop that will assist us in quickly developing a number of new products and prototype designs. One of these areas is our wiring table and electronics area.
In the next weeks we’ll be equipping this area with a variety of supplies that go along with our build – TechFlex braided loom, some of the best on the market with a wide variety of products to cover the various application requirements for our Alfa install – from shielded loom for signal wires to thermal barrier covering for the wideband O2 sensor harness. We’ve never really been into the harness tuck work, but this car offers us some great opportunities to design an ultra clean layout for the wiring harness with modular connections to allow removal and installation in minutes. We also found a great firewall bulkhead connector from Deutsch as well as some intermediate bulkhead connectors for quick disconnection of our adjustable coil pack mounting assembly.
