So the 15A circuit in my garage is no longer covering it. I picked up a 5hp 2-stage IR air compressor and I need some power. I have come up with the following circuits:
30A 230V for the compressor
15A for some lights
20A for Door Openers (2) plus a reel cord
20A for outlets
I want to run a 60A panel.
My house service is 150A and on the OTHER side of the house.
I say my garage is "semi-attached" because there is a 3' walkway between the house and garage, but the roof line is connected.
I am figuring my run will be as follows:
Out of service box, 12' across basement ceiling between rafters.
Up through 8' wall in bedroom closet
Across attic along roof rafters 35' into garage
Down garage wall (in conduit?) 8' into sub panel
Total run: about 65'
It seems 6 gauge copper should work for this from the online calculators I can find. Do they make a sheathed (Romex style) cable with 3 6 gauge conductors plus a ground (can the ground be 8?)? Can I run this in conduit at the garage to consider it "protected"?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
