I have a corner in my garage where my workbench is. I don't really want to mount another 4', 4 bulb, t8 light fixture on the ceiling if I don't have to since it's a smaller area and REALLY Don't want a light with a chain dropping down to the bench.........

Are there any of you that have found a wall mounted light that will actually mount on the WALL at my workbench (wall you're facing while at the bench but comes out over the bench?

You can kinda see it's a little dark in this picture and what I am trying to work with.

Do a double duty - make a shelf about the same width as the bench, say 12" deep and mount it to the wall. Put a light of appropriate width under the shelf. There are shallow switch boxes at HD and Lowes, mount one on an end facing down and put a switch in it. Or use a double and do a switch/plug. Plugs above a bench can be handy sometimes with corded tools.

i have 4 "cubicle" lights over top of my benches. They work great for me. They light up my pegboard and benchtops evenly, and don't throw extra light past the benches which I like.

Okay, talk to me, guys.........I need pictures if any of you have them. I am not one that is too handy with building stuff out of wood. Since my walls are finished I would like them to look good too. Tinkering, wrenching on cars ang bikes is my thing.

Appreciate any pics of something I can try and copy.

I think what Falcon is referring to is similar to what I used to have in mine, like these to the left and right of the cupboard:

Looks good- Did you just screw in a 2x4 across the wall and into the wall studs, then screwed the sides into that same 2x4 and then mount the shelf top to the rear and sides?

Rember, I am not good at this ...................
