Wright wrenches just before Wrightgrip 1.0 was released?

On the standard combo wrenches they were making just before Wrightgrip was released, was it the exact same rounded style beam profile and everything?

Or did they redo the beam profile for Wrightgrip?

Love to find some NOS of the basic SAE sizes.

From the vintage Wright thread, looks like there was a version that did have the same wrench design.

I think that photo is the version before the wrightgrip. The ones before that had a V Throat open end but, anything's possible except for a long pattern wrightgrip combination Wrench :wtf:
That was my other question, on the ones with the V throat, are those the same awesome rounded off beam profile?

Looking at a couple pics online it kind of looks like those have a thinner standard type beam...

These things, right side of photo? Is that the V you mean? If so, I can take more pics. I think these feel awesome in the hand, but have barely been used since acquired .

I go ape **** over anything made in my home state and that would include wright, funny story in that over these many years, it seems that some people somehow picked up wright wrenches with the name all grinded off, maybe factory rejects??? I see them all the time.

Very similar. They were rounded and beefy like WG.
Don’t have time to get to mine right now.

I've asked for them, they're still surprised mechanics use their wrenches, they think of themselves as an industrial tool supplier.
I get it, and the length Wright uses for their combination wrenches is probably great for 85% of what a tech does but, a long pattern Wrightgrip combination wrench would be sweet

Yes, that is the V.
Here are my 5/8" and 7/8" wrenches

the 5/8 center of beam is 0.191", 7/8" 0.251
Edges are 0.158 & 0.196
Widths are 0.524 & 0.702

The corners have a slight radius, just enough to see a shadow under the caliper jaw.

Holler if you want to see more.

Have you ever handled Wrightgrip 1.0 or 2.0 ?

What I would call a round beam wrench that Wright made, from what I've seen, have been 1-1/2"(?) and larger. The common size Wright combo wrench I have, prior to Wrightgrip, are flat with a V in the open end.
