This is a nice Yost patternmakers vise. Gilmore Yost was an employee of Emmert manufacturing and patented improvements to the Emmert turtle back universal patternmakers vise in 1908. This one is in nice condition with no breaks or repairs in the jaws or the front cover, it opens smoothly right up to the maximum opening. The jaws are about 18 x 8 inches. It tilts and swivels easily through its entire range and the front jaw adjustment for non-parallel work pieces is working. There is a crack in the angle bracket which will probably give no trouble so long as all four mounting screws are kept tight but you could weld or braze the crack in place id you want to. It was missing the original under bench bracket when I got it so I fabricated a bracket that I originally designed for turtle back Emmert vises. I've done all the hard work, all it really needs before mounting on your bench is leather or wood jaw faces and a paint job.
