They look interesting.

I just could not see myself working on any car in a sitting position.

Unless it was Miller Time.

Nice work on the Customer Service front. You've got a massive group of potential ambassadors here and your attempt to help and educate them is a great move.
Cheers to all who got one - the rest of us are looking forward to seeing them in action!

So why does it only go so high? Is it a control issue with set-up or is a problem with the car on the lift. i can't see me working on my car sitting unless the ceiling height is low and you run out of room with the car against the rafters.

Bingo!
From the MaxJax home page....

It's essentially a half or three quarters height lift. It's made for use in a garage with the 8" ceiling that is built into most of today's garages. It makes a nice alternative to a platform type lift for those people (like me) who want the versatility of access afforded by a two post lift system, but can't fit the current crop into their garages. Besides being height limited so it won't push your whole car into the ceiling when you are daydreaming while lifting, it is also uniquely mobile so that it can be used on the weekend when the usual shade tree mechanic does most of the work and then removed so our wives can have their parking spot during the week thereby keeping everyone happy.

Great looking product!!! Can you advise if there's a max timeframe you would recommend leaving a vehicle lifted on you're system? A few hours, days, weeks, months? I could not find anything in your specs relating to this information.

thx

Didn't want to start a new thread, but just received a call from the trucking company, and my MaxJax will be here tomorrow!! (March 20th)

Now, the only bad thing is, I need to go pick it up (25 mile drive each way, and I'm also starting the footer of my new garage tomorrow, so don't know when I'll be able to leave to go pick it up

I'm compiling a list "just because" -

Flameout, machuko, Gabriel J, G-force, tatra, axis11, cw racefan, Junkman, nmk61802, marlin mangels….

...who else has one on the way?

You don't have one coming, do you Identaltech?

I am one of the original guys one the list, but haven't gotten a call yet with a shipping date. Not sure how the order of shipping is laid out, so there may be others with the unit on the way that haven't posted yet. -Gabe

According to Gabe I was third on the group buy list and I have yet to receive any contact about my lift shipping, so I am guessing the order in which they were contacted does not mean anything. just a guess.

I am basing this post on what happened with my 4 post lift shipping. If I wanted it to come by common carrier, it would have left ASAP. Since I didn't want it to go that way, it went onto a dedicated flat bed that had nothing but Bend Pak products loaded, and then went East dropping off equipment until he got to the last stop and turned around. My guess is that these are all going on dedicated trucks to the various areas of the country. When you purchased isn't the criteria that is used, but where you live. Mine is being shipped to an undisclosed location for my pick up, and it must be there by the first week of April. More about that later..

The truck that delivered it had one of those manual fork lifts. Here is a photo:

dsc01706_medium.jpg

and a long flat hydraulic platform on the back of the truck to lower it from the truck to the road... from there we (truck driver and me) push it to the drive way, where you see it in the photo. Pretty easy to move using that manual fork lift.

It weights 800-900lbs... so without a lift it is going no where...

They were supposed to give me a 24hour notice to give me time to rent the manual fork lift... instead, the guy called me an hour from my house. Lucky he had that lift and that truck or it would have been a nightmare... only other way is that the driver waits until you take it apart... outside of the two towers, everything else can be handle by one person with a good back...

Hope that helps!

Is that Ceramic tile? How will that flooring hold up to the lift? I have been thinking of doing a porcelin or slate floor in my garage, but was concerned about durability. BTW, that lift should make working on those two Porsches a lot easier:thumbup:

Correct. 0.78 ceramic tiles from HD... installed them myself shortly after moving into the house... easier to keep clean. I work on my cars, and help out friends with theirs. In the 6 years of use I have welded, done metal cutting, dropped tools, use the mid-rise lift on it, etc... and it still looks like new. And if I drop a tool that actually breaks or chips one(has not happen so far), it is only .78! I remove it and install a new one (got a few extra boxes just in case).

With the lift I plan to remove the tiles where the tower goes... plan to have a few extra holes to use it in the single bay area or in the double bay area. then cut the tile around it. I will need to make some sort of covers (four in total unless the middle one can just be turned around) when the lift is not in use... still thinking on the best aproach for that... maybe some aluminum plates with recess bolts where the tower goes... that way I protect the holes and keep a flush floor at the same time.

Note to the Dannmar folks if they are listening - that's going to be a problem for those of us that work during the day... An hour's notice to get home and get ready to unload just isn't going to cut it.

To be fair, it was not Dannmar's wrong doing... the delivery slip had clear instructions to call 24 hours in advanced...

Congrats...looks like you're the first to receive one! Or at least to receive and post. Did it include the ALI lifting points guide? What's that bent looking plate in the small box?

Mine should be here in a week or so! Hehe, we're all like little kids waiting on new toys!

Vehicle lifting points guide? Did not see that... I will look again when I get back home. Maybe it is one of the stickers in one of the columns...

The bent looking plate is actually a rubber mat that goes between the pump and the stand.

The lifting points guide is a book by ALI that shows the lifting points on cars for a certain year range. Just curious, since the web site under safety said that it was included. I think ALI charges for it. Just curious since I have 2 cars that I have no idea what the "approved" lifting points are. Never really worried about it jacking, but lifting the whole vehicle is another story!

OK, last update for today.

dsc01726_medium_copy1.jpg

No ALI booklet. So no lifting point guide nor safety instruction placard. I will send a note to Dannmar. They either need to remove that from the website or send them out later.

Missing (1) 3/8"x3/8" NPT Fitting and (1) Male Quick Disconnect, required for single column operation. This is needed for using the motorcycle mount with just one column. Keep in mind that the motorcycle kit is not normally included so I can see them forgetting to add these... a quick call to Dannmar and parts are on their way.

Also, received and extra motorcycle mount. I was told to just keep it.

For those getting ready... the instructions tells you that you will need 7 quarts of ATF fluid. That assumes that your bottles and hoses are full. So plan on using 9 quarts.

System needs to be bleed to get the air out. Easy to do, just follow the instructions.

dsc01729_medium.jpg

Also, instructions ask you to install a circlip when you install the pin that holds the forks... if you plan on putting this away after each use... forget about installing that circlip.
