I've been trying to find a wrench set that offers these outstanding qualities, A zero degree long 6point double box end wrench set with a ratcheting end. I have search high and low and cannot find a set. I've found zero degree long double box sets but they're 12 points, Craftsman and others sell 6 point wrenches but they're not long or zero degrees or double boxed.

Snap on,Cornwell,Mac or Matco have zero degree long double box sets but they're 12 points,(how do i know?) I've search every page of their catalogs. Would anybody know if they're any out there? I'll even take some from China or Elsewhere. I'm hoping someones knows if any exist, or it'll be time to crank up the old CAD program and sumbit my ideas to some manufacturers or get them made at a machine shop, or outsource it at MFG.com

Just curious as to why you need a set of wrenches to meet these strict specifications.

I do see that Blue point offer a small selection in the shorter older style (sandwiched/laminated type) ratcheting box ends in 6 point, but they only go from 5/16" to 9/16" and 8mm to 13mm.

BTW wouldn't the cost to get a manufacturer to gear up to produce a wrench be astronomical even in the unlikely event they would ever take on such a task.

I think you may have to make your own. I have only seen 12 point versions of extra long zero offset wrenches. If making your own turns out to be too expensive, I would look at the Gearbox wrenches from KD/Gearwrench. They are extra long (sometimes too long), feature a fixed zero offset 12 point box end on one end, with a zero offset ratcheting box end on the other. I think with off corner engagement, these wrenches give the performance of a six point wrench. They are made in Taiwan though. Sk, Matco, and Genius Tools also have similiar versions along with some of the tool trucks. Good luck in your quest.

Six point box ends on a long ratcheting box wrench could be very annoying to engage the fastener in a tight spot. Even a six point socket can be a little annoying when you have to keep pulling it out and spinning the socket with your fingers a few degrees to get it to line up. With a ratcheting box wrench, this would be even more tedious.

If the fastener is really so tight that you need a 6 point wrench, then you should probably break it loose with a regular wrench or a socket anyway.

Okay, am I the only one wondering why anyone would need such a wrench?

Also, I don't see (with the current variety of flank drive properties out there) how a 6 point will be that much more advantageous than a 12 point. Both will contact the fastener on the flats...

No, I asked that in the first response. I hope we don't start the 6 point vs 12 point thing again. We all know that 12 is the way to go if you do any variety of work.:bounce:

I have tried to duplicate in 6pt what I have in 12pt. Mind you I have assembeled my set over a good number of years to have both 6 & 12 pt in the popular drive sizes. In fact I even went as far as having both 6-12pt flex sockets in 3/8" I will say this, if I had it to do over I think I would have primarily bought 12 pt and 1 complete set of 3/8" 6pts in deep and 1 in shallow and let it go at that. Really way to much is made of the whole pt issue as far as I am concerned. As long as you have some basic sets in 6pt that is all you really need.

But only if they are Snap-on

So the Flank drive, drives the sides of the fastener? Is this only with snapOn or with others? Such as Cornwell or Mac and matco? V8 offers a zero degree long offset wrench can anyone vouch for V8?

I will use such wrench for close ******,Water pump, timing belts, power steering work on newer vehicles,

Are there other wrenches that could be used? It seems it but I am no expert.

Yeah, but i figured if i had such tool it would speed up production and increase my reliance on said tool, which equals more $$$$. I do mobile auto maintenance,Brakes, alternators, starters, and everything else in between. Very light engine and ****** work as i am mobile.

Gearwrench, the SK G Pro series, Craftsman full polish ratcheting wrenches, and any of the tool truck versions will enhance your productivity as a light line tech.

Snap on is the king of flank drive but, there are many other variations. Opti torque, surface drive, head lock, knuckle saver, look for some type of catchy phrase that equals off corner engagement.

I've seen V8 tools at swap meets and car shows. The versions I've seen are on par with Harbor Freight type tools. I would put them at lower end PRC Chinese made tools. Price shouldn't be the only driving force when looking at tools. Sometimes you get less than what you paid for.

No need to do just light work. My friend and i stick our tools in his Volvo wagon, trolley jacks and all and we do everything from servicing to clutches in a totally mobile fashion. :)

Or course, time is an issue when you're not in a workshop, but we have done headgaskets on the mobile "rounds".

I do in-workshop stuff during the week (VW-Audi sepcialist) and mobile stuff some evening/weekends.

Help pay for my tool addiction!

Mobile mechanics is certainly a small and very profitable market. I hope to soon buy myself a mid-nineties VW Transporter van that i can stick my tools/box in after work to do other job in the evening/weekends without having to cram it into my friend's car.

(Sorry to revive this old dog, but...)

Does anyone make a 6-point 0-degree offset (box end in particular) combination wrench?

Edit:
Looks like a Tekton ratcheting combo will fit the bill.
