So, let’s say you live up north in the bitter cold… and you need a man cave. You know, a spot where you can store your guns, work on small projects, drink a beer or two, and write drunken letters to all your friends down south. What are you going to build?

I think it's the rich wood and heavy beams that does it for me. If I had that kind of coin, I'd be putting something like this up.

Hmmm, I already have the sawmill...

I have seen this pic and am hoping to do an extremely smaller scale version of this on my garage.. a 16x12 bump out that would just be a workshop.. with that size I think I could at least give it the appearance..

I love it. I'd pay money to sit on that leather couch with a Cohiba, my feet up, in front of the fire and listen to the rain fall on that metal roof. Almost heaven.

Have I told you how much I appreciate you lately? Seriously... The **** I deal with concerning garage flooring people and suppliers is borderline insanity. I think you must be one of the few sane folks in the industry!

I cannot believe you used the term "man cave!" After all these years and all the blogs, I thought I had a pretty good idea who you were but you caught me with that one. :D

As well, I'm pretty sure Hunter S. Thompson wouldn't have used that interior-decorator-made term, either.

I do dig that space, though.

There are places that are super rad that I would never personally build because it just isn't my thing. This is one of them. I dig looking at them though.

I would do it if I could afford it. But as a couple other guys have said, it's nicer than the house I live in.

If that was attached to a full blown fab shop/ garage with a lift I would have no reason to ever complain about not having my "dream space" ever again. It would be cool to have a regulation combo trap/***** field right out the back door though. And an ultra hot trap girl/bartender that liked me. Ok, now I'm asking for a lot...........

I think what I like so much about it is that when I was a teenager I had some idea that I would actually have something like this some day. ( It didn't , and isn't going to happen ) Back then , a guy that hunted could hang his rifles and shotguns on racks on the wall or keep them is glass fronted cabinets. I don't think I had even heard of a gun safe when I was a kid. I don't hunt anymore anyway but I still like the "atmosphere ".

Gorgeous but so far out of my reach unless I win big on the euromillions lottery! It would be a bit profane though to sully it with something so normal as an oily old car.

You'd think for the kind of money tired up in a room like that, he'd have a real gun safe... especially if his gun collection is in line with the rest of the room.

Love it. The wood provides such a nice sense of warmth.

I'm generally one who prefers modern but I appreciate any style when it is well executed and that certainly is! Fine looking dog as well...

I really like that the "workspace" and "officespace" are shared and connected.

I don't see many examples of that on here, where someone builds an office or other more formal space interconnected with their shop space.

I came here to post this. I had to do a double-take. No way that's a Cannon safe...but it was.

Get that man a Graffunder, stat! Or at least a Fort Knox.

Not to take away from the beauty of the place.

It has man-appeal and that I cannot deny, but I agree with others of our kind - a man-cave it is definitely not - just too fussy.

Cons:
Kinda Hobbitt-y, Kinda Nordic. Lotsa piddling-work room but no metal bashing or wood chopping allowed - might leave scraps on the floor to injure the trophy dog. This interior design was compromised by too many competing requests/needs/uses. It's a clear tip to a woman designer who smoothed off some edges and make it look 'dignified'.

Pros:
I do very much like the exterior more than the interior. Great idea of using painted corrugated steel roof (over insulation board?) instead of the typical galvanized, natural finsh look.

Great deep eaves, snow-pitch rooflines, cupola study separated by a heavy woodwork soffit.

Yeah, the dog can stay but only if it knows how to fetch beer.
