Hey fellas… here’s a little project that a buddy of mine and I have been working on. Essentially, these are just fidget spinners created from recycled skateboards using a CNC Shark HD4.
Anyway, enjoy the video!
Link isn't working.
All that work to make a 2017 yo yo .. you have too much time on your hands and no REAL projects to do . sad

Actually three hours of work plus another four or so for video editing is a pretty small price to pay if it gets us any closer to providing a skate park for our kids here in Dripping Springs. I was happy to do it and I'm hoping like hell I get to spend even more time making a ton more of these.
In any case, I just gave you some more free time.![]()
I've seen these spinners a few times lately for sale. What exactly are these things ? basically just a simple toy to keep somebody pre-occupied or some type of game ?
That small CNC machine is damn nice.
I think you may want to do other things with the wood as well, maybe make something aimed at the parents too. I can imagine that with all the different colors of skateboard desks you could end up with some cool stuff.

Did you try applying the heat to the tape? I used to change grip tape and I thought I could get most of the residue off by doing that.
These are cool, I'll have to show my boys.
One thought, rather than trying to straighten the boards with clamps when gluing maybe you could clamp them in a way to maintain the curves? I think it would make for an interesting look.

Ryan, this guy makes cool **** out of skate decks too. Check out the press he invented!
(What year is the 911? - loved the in-car!)

Yeah - there are guys out there that literally make a living making stuff from recycled skateboards. Some of it is really, really cool too... This guy amazes me:

The biggest bottleneck that I found was getting the old decks ready for glue-up. Removing the residue from the grip tape is a real pain in the ***. And then once that is done, making good flat sheet material isn't as easy as I was hoping.
If we end up doing a **** load of these or anything else out of skate decks, I am going to design some sort of a press that allows me to stack the decks for glue up... and then once done, resaw them on my bandsaw. I think I could get pretty consistent results doing that.

How about some safety glasses bruh?
What a waste of time.
Bet you're real fun to be around!
Great job OP; very nice work!![]()
I didn't realize the things had to be charged up, The NBC today show this AM had a segment where someone's spinner caught on fire from (what else) the lithium battery. Just shows I haven't paid attention the the spinners.
