Store Bought Outfeed Table

I’ve been dragging my feet on building an outfeed table, found something for cheap that might work at Home Depot, and I’m kind of in love with it? Yeah, I think I like this thing. Its biggest advantage (height adjustable) is also its biggest weakness – wasted space. But, I’m thinking of building some sort of a dedicated dust collector for my table saw on the under side of this thing. And because it’s mobile, I could move it around to other tools if needed. Regardless, check your Home Depot for deals. I just checked my receipt and I was …

Milwaukee Packout – Airtight?

So… I’ve been thinking about tool storage in a tropical environment. One idea I had was to create drawers out of airtight cases – something similar to a pelican case, but more affordable. And then, I ran across a Milwaukee Packout at Home Depot. I know these are crazy popular, but I’ve never paid much attention to them as I’ve never needed their brand of portability. As such, I was unaware that they featured a rubber gasket. Seeing that (about fifteen minutes ago in the big box store) made me think that at 1 atmosphere, the Packout might actually be …

EDC Utility Blade… Finally!

A few months back, I wrote about my struggles finding something to replace my Maker Knife. I wanted something with similar utility, but with better build quality… I tested a lot of different designs from flippers to slides and just about everything I bought was either unable to be manipulated with one hand easily or was just too damned heavy and clunky to carry in your pocket. Introducing the Exceed Designs Tirant Razor. Problem solved. At first glance, it’s an overpriced titanium utility blade holder. Nothing changes with a second or third glance, but if you carry this every day …

SendCutSend

So I’m working on a prototype rack for my Diamondback bed cover (more on that later) and needed some fairly intricate cuts done on 1/4″ aluminum plate. My initial plan was to just use my local water jet joint, but Covid and the snowpocalypse made that damn near impossible. As a stop gap, I decided to try an online laser cutting service called SendCutSend. Essentially, I designed my parts using Illustrator and then sent them a file. From there, they sent over a g-code compile for approval and once done, they cut the parts. Four days later, the sides for …

Tiny Workshop Inspiration

For the past week, we’ve been fighting through hour by hour blackouts, no water, and the kind of cold temperatures that this area has never really seen before. I know you guys up North have it far worse, but man… I am not made for cold weather. So much so, that we’ve been planning on a move to Hawaii. A while back, we bought a tiny 1950’s era beach home on the island of Kauai. The idea is that we will live there during the summers, rent it out the rest of the year, and then once the nest empties, …
