It's $10 more than last time, but still a great deal.

I refuse to give up Windows 7 (locked down and tracking disabled) on my personal computer.
This says Office Pro 2021 won't run on Windows 7 or 8.
I'm with you, but unfortunately Microsoft has ended support for Windows 7, meaning no more security patches. Support ended on Jan 10, 2023:

The only thing worse than being tracked and monitored by big tech is being tracked, monitored, and having your PC held for ransom by hackers.

I'm made the jump to Linux Mint and am decoupling myself from as much proprietary software as possible. LibreOffice is replacing MS office, and Mozilla Thunderbird is replacing Outlook. As luck would have it, Thunderbird decided to undergo a major modernization effort:

You can get LibreOffice or OpenOffice for free and do the same things. I prefer LibreOffice. It has more features and is fully compatible.
Have used OpenOffice for years alongside dated MS Office versions. I may have to try this LibreOffice...

Seems to good to be true since Microsoft is asking $439 for it.

Do you know if it can be transferred to a new computer in the future, or once it is installed on a computer it cannot be moved to a new computer?

As long as you have your license key, you can move it to a different computer. The key word is move. You can't try to install it on a new computer and keep it on the old one.

Not sure what you priced but MS office for business is $249 at MS store. Still, $40 seems to be too good to be true. Maybe it's the triple advertisement edition.

Can confirm: Bought this deal last time and it's good to go. I used OpenOffice for many years until it was deprecated and then switched to LibreOffice. Libre was good but had some quirks in exporting to other file types. Office is the standard, and now I don't have to worry about my clients trying to figure out what .ODS is.

I used Libre for years, but the files are coded just a tad differently due to copyrights. After I got this deal last November I noticed all MS files had no issues, especially Excel.

For those wondering if this is too good to be true, the answer is not simple. These codes are generated or "borrowed" by the vendor. They are legitimate licenses but not legitimate for the person buying from these vendors. These codes may work never, for a week, a month, a year, or forever. It all depends on whether the legitimate owner tries to use it and if MS detects the fraud and turns off the code.

Just to be clear, though, these are not valid legitimate licenses, they are essentially fraudulent.

Ok, so regarding these keys, it isn't really a scam. These sellers either get from big businesses or OEM sources. For example a large office buys 1000 new Dell desktops. They each come with a Office licensing key. The company will have a Office corporate license key or some other kind of multi key.

They then can basically either sell off the extra keys or whatever. Resellers buy them up and resell them. It isn't fully kosher, but no one seems to get in a twist about it.

Another source is buying keys from overseas. Office and other MS products often sell for much less so these resellers can get keys on the cheap and resell in the USA.

The biggest issue is resellers selling the key more than once.

Unlike conventional copies of Windows or Office, an OEM copy is bound to the hardware upon which it was originally installed and can’t be transferred, even with a valid license code.

They can sell the keys but it violates their T&C contracts and they are subject to cancellation.

Most overseas keys won't work in the US, keys are authorized for specific countries. Try taking your Windows laptop with a US license to Canada and see what happens. Hint: If you access the internet, they will deactivate Windows and you will have to reactivate when you return to the US.

OEM licenses can be transferred, but the problem that arises is when there is an attempt to install it on more than one machine at the same time.

Probably not worth further debate, people have been informed these licenses are fraudulent and can decide for themselves if they want to behave ethically and legally.

So if I need to do a PowerPoint presentation in Canada, and get on the Internet at the hotel, I would be screwed? Doesn't sound right.

I did order it - last week - I think at $49.99 - has not arrived yet and their tracking doesn't seem to work. Just got an email from them - $29.99.

Better double check your spam folder. They are emailing you the codes and link to download the software per their description.

The sources are Microsoft, industry knowledge, and experience.

So, a mysterious utterance from one of 221,000 employees, you, and you. Those aren't citations. Those are assertions, and we can all make those-- I too have "industry knowledge and experience," and I can make assertions that the licenses are valid, and don't explode your laptop when you drive across the Rainbow International Bridge.

Reframing the previous request-- Can you point us to an authoritative source for the things you have asserted here as facts? Perhaps a link to a Microsoft press release? Or maybe a Microsoft contact?

Thanks

Well I can say I have traveled the world with my corporate laptop and I have never had Windows or any other piece of software deactivate. So I am not sure that is actually happening.

If you have a download version licensed in the US, yes, it will be invalidated and you will have to revalidate from a US IP address.

The difference is I posted facts, while your "assertion" is unfounded speculation.

The facts I posted can be easily verified with an internet search. Here are a few links to get you started:
