These would have come in handy recently when I was doing the PCV gizmo on the family Volvo:

I grabbed the old part out of the bin - if I'd had these my Carlyle bit ratchet would have worked well at the time:

Where the Icon was a bit tall (it was very close to the cowl)

I feel like I've got pretty solid bit game now... (a bit kit?)

Interesting to see Ford’s history on the Volvo part with FoMoCo. When they owned Volvo or at least a percentage of it. I can’t remember which. Thanks for sharing

I had the same thing when I was doing the suspension on the family Mazda - lots of parts marked FoMoCo.

Some new tools today from Auto Zone and Advance Auto. I’ve heard excellent things about Duralast ratchets and since I needed a long 3/8 flex head for the house I wanted to give them a try as I have to do brakes this weekend. I wanted a Diehard but none of the Advance Auto near where I work or at home have them so I decided to get this one. They are expensive though. Also got an 8mm 1/4 drive to replace one I lost under the hood of my brother in laws Mercury. Then got some angled needle nose pliers at Advance Auto too just for the house to have. I’ve always had a thing for auto parts store tools. The tool isle was full of people buying stuff first time I’ve ever seen the auto parts store busy lol. I had to go anyway to get new bolts for the water pump pulley so I knew I wasn’t leaving without tools lol.

how do you like that stool at your welding table? i bought one of these stools, and my table has the same low shelf. i returned it because i could not get close enough to the table with that big ring..

So far so good, although I only welded for about an hour last night with the new stool. The large foot ring never came close to my fabrication tables' base however. When I built my fabrication table years ago I held the top over the edge on one side about 6 inches more to allow me to tuck up and under slightly when welding as I figured this would be the side I would mainly be sitting at. The other side it may be more problematic as that side only overhangs a couple of inches.

You bought an 8 mm socket, and didn't pick up a 10 mm while you were there???

Those look a lot like Apex Tools ratchets.

It’s a 10 inch ratchet. Not as long as I’d have preferred but it was the longest one they had.

They probably are. I’ve read good things about them so hopefully it will hold up well. I used it all afternoon at work and loved it. The locking ball that holds the head in place is really nice. Doesn’t move at all.

Break it in properly, with a 4-foot cheater pipe!

I finally picked up a DCF923. I have wanted one for a while. It came with a promotion 4ah battery. Wasn't the greatest deal, but it was good enough for me. I also got a few Armstrong pieces from Cripe, not that I needed any more extensions.

Add power stack and u have the lightest most powerful in your hand, I keep being impressed by mine. I use it a lot with up to a 24mm flex socket all day. It does worry me how long it can last kicking so much *** but I’m just going to hope at least a year.

Long-time lurker, first time poster. I fully blame this community for introducing me to Knipex! Fell deep down the rabbit hole.

I live in the middle east, and fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) the Knipex dealers here generally price their product lower than what I tend to see it selling for in the US.

For example, the 10" Cobras go for right around $19.50 vs. $29 on Amazon.

I thank y'all but my wallet does not! 😂

Is the grease gun a good unit? Intern needs to get one and I thought it seemed reasonable price
Works great. Can't beat the price. Ive used it a few times to grease my machine. Easy to set up easy to operate. I have a **** ton of Ryobi tools. Ive not had one issue with any of their products.

A new to me tool lol. Straight from my favorite place to shop. eBay. I am replacing the brake pads and rotors on my Escape today or tomorrow and I wanted a 6 point 18mm 1/2 socket to break the caliper bracket bolts loose. I only have 12 points at home for 1/2 stuff mostly. I couldn’t find a 6 point at home, the pawn shop, the auto parts store or anywhere besides the tool truck and Northern Tool but the one at Northern Tool didn’t look very well made and seemed thin like it would crack so I decided to get this one from eBay. I found one in a set at Walmart but I’d rather have this one single socket than buy a whole set of them not knowing quality. One of my favorite brand of tools Craftsman USA 🇺🇸. Hard to believe I don’t have some socket’s already as I own over 2,000 no joke lol 😂. I guess no one really cares if they have 12 point or 6 point but I’ve always had better luck with 6 point at least on smaller stuff. Hard to tell from the pictures but it doesn’t look like it’s ever been used just sat in someone’s box. The inside looks new. Very happy with my purchase. Wish Craftsman USA was still available I’d own all of it lol.

I definitely care. I NEVER use 12-point sockets or wrenches unless I'm dealing with a square nut/bolt. I've rounded WAY too many with 12-points.

USA Craftsmans are everywhere. Garage sales, auction sites, eBay, CL, FBMP. Just not Sears or Lowe's, I guess (although there have been rumors)...

But, you really want older USA Craftsman. I noticed that after the early 90s, they started using less material in many of their tools. Same model number, less metal.

It was very obvious when looking at them side-by-side when returning a broken one. If the beefier one broke, how long would the anemic one last?

Yeah I’ve heard reports about the later versions not being as good. I was just surprised how rare it seems the 6 point 1/2 versions are. At least in metric. This one I believe is Danaher so it’s decent at least but probably not as good as a 90s one.

I don't get the I hate 12pt. socket thing. I've used a lot of 12pt. sockets with good results. I think all my early Craftsman metric sockets I used on my first VW Bug were 12pt.I'm not sure at the time they even had 6pt. metric sockets. No one seems to hate using the 12pt. box end on a wrench. With most sockets having an "off corner" type design the 12pt. would be ever better than some of the early 6pt. sockets.

Yep. Knipex distributors are absolutely FLEECING American buyers. $20 is about the non-sale price in EU as well.

I never understood the deal with 12 point sockets. Most fasteners are 6 points, so why would you ever want to use a 12 point on it? When I installed the intake on my Mustang, I bought a set of 12 point stainless bolts just so I could try a 12 point socket on what is was made for!

Twice as many angles to grab a fastener from if using a breaker bar. But doesn't make sense with ratchets because the number of angles to grab a fastener from can be fine tuned with the ratchet itself (tooth count).
