how many times have you drained the tank of the sediment that is at the bottom?15 year old electric water heater 45 gallon(?). Almost overnight it seems like the temp went way up (initially), while at the same time the quantity of hot water reduced roughly a third. So while always use to be able to fill a bathtub 2/3 full of relatively hot water, now it runs hot right away and is ice cold at the halfway point. So I'm at a loss. Any thoughts?
It's been years. And if it was a gradual thing, I would've thought that, but it came on pretty quickly. I've also on my own well in the country, so I have sediment. 15 years is about the screaming limit around here. We've got HARD water. Even with water softeners it eventually wreaks havoc on them.How long do water heaters usually last for you guys? Our municipal water is very high quality and my (natural gas) water heaters last about 15-20 years.
Get ready to buy a new water heater and move on to another problem.
