I have a modern version of the second one called a shark bar. I've used it for prying off moldings, pulling carpet staples, and things like that. Love it.

Agree with second being a pry bar. Last one I saw like that, the flat end was just a little thicker than a putty knife. Great for restoration work.

No handle! What do you lift it with? Maybe for clamping something. Also why do you need to vise grip a battery?

I think you just carry it under the hinge point.

I would have taken that one many years ago when I worked at the Sears auto department. We had a carrier that was seemingly very fancy. It had a straight bar that laid down against the top of the battery with a piece of angle on each end to grip over the edges of the battery. The bar had a rack in it and the handle ratcheted on the rack to pull the ends together.
Couple of problems- one, the rack adjustment was too fine and one size would be too tight for the angles to go over the sides of the battery, and the next size wouldn’t cinch down tight. This, with small angles over the edges with nothing “grippy” on them made carrying batteries (which we did a lot) quite an adventure. Predictably, I had one slip out once, and my big toe looked like a hot dog that came out of the microwave!

Interesting. The vintage battery carriers I'm used to are the straps or the adjustable hacksaw like jobbies. So you'd use the vise-grip lever to open and close/clamp on, then just slip your hand between the whole thing, under that pivot, and the battery. Hmm. Maybe. Are you thinking this was a custom one-off or factory?

Years ago I had one that was a knockoff vise grip battery carrier that was an auto size adjustment on it. I let someone else use it at work and they spilled battery acid on the auto adjust and didn't wash and clean it up and returned it not working. Could not find a replacement as the original company went out of business. That happens just about any time I have let some one else borrow a tool.

The first tool looks like a KD Tools No. 140 Body clamp, or a version thereof. Either way I want it lol.
