I've posted here before, I am the Grandson of William Ferguson (1900-1963), the inventor of Trimo-Ferguson, Ferguson and Porter-Ferguson auto body tools.
I have collected nearly every tool my Grandpa invented. I am only missing a few hammers and a few porta-power items. I have copies of all of his patents, over 100 pages total.
Recently I finished a 1929 Ford Model A Panel Delivery. I silver leafed the sides in memory of my Grandpa and Dad, and included my business as well. Below the belt line I put the locations of the businesses, as it shows our way out west. I was born in Massachusetts and the tools were all manufactured there.

I found this in Nebraska. I'm looking for information on it. If any one knows anything I would appreciate it.20231118_101320.jpg20231118_101325.jpg

How have I not seen this thread until now? Amazing collection. It looks like the OP hasn't been active since posting. Does anyone know the purpose of the Red stand with red C-clamp type tool? It appears to be some sort of press. Damn I love old body tools.

Next year I will start the restoration of my Grandpa's Porter Ferguson salesman sample trailer.
I recently found it in a junkyard in North Dakoka and had it shipped home to Temecula, California.
The last pic is when it was new, a pic in a 1950 catalog.

Very nice display of your Grandfather's tools. Be sure to post a photo of that very cool trailer once you get it cleaned up.

In my state, before Fire Departments got into extrication and before firms like Hurst, Holmatro, and Amkus came along with specialized equipment, every ambulance was required by state law to carry an “RS-10” or “RS-11” kit. These kits were assembled by third parties, but at their heart was a bunch of Porter-Ferguson.
Your grandpas inventions saved a lot of lives.

@jwjfjwjf Impressive collection.

Did your Grandpa invent or name the Porta Power / Porto Power (ie hydraulic jack)? Ive read elsewhere on this forum it was invented/named by someone called Porter Ferguson who first called it "Porter Power" and then Blackhawk took the invention and marketed it as Porto Power in the 30's/40's? Is this true, can you clear the air for us on the background story?

What pieces are you missing? I have quite a few PF porta-power pieces. I’m also curious to how much of a relationship PF had with Blackhawk in the Auto Body sector early on. I’ve seen Blackhawk sets that definitely use there pumps, Hard to tell about the attachments, but can’t help but think they was some shared pieces.

It’s telescopic, 44”to 83”, I’m assuming it’s to compare measurements from point to point when straightening a frame? Thought you might be interested.

I just found this Porter-ferguson tool equipment board yesterday and it needs a home with someone that has the tools to fill it up. Located in Bartlesville, OK.
