Planning an addition and thinking it will require a second HVAC system. Does a second condensor co-located alongside the original condensor require a separate disconnect if there is sufficient electrical capacity for both units?
Thanks!
I'm not sure that it would be acceptable to put 2 pieces of equipment on (1) service disconnect switch. There is already a "yes" and a "no" answer above this.
You would be better served by doing your own internet search to possibly locate the answer, or actually (OMG), reach out to a licensed electrician in your area. Additionally, your municipality may not allow it.
It would certainly be an unconventional installation, even if it was allowed. That is enough of a reason not to do it.
Then, if there are issues with one of the condensers, how is power maintained to the other one that is still working, if they are both connected to one disconnect switch?
