maglite led 2AA on a belt holster. it was really ******* me off at first though because it would blink and not work sometimes when i'd be under a truck but after fiddling with it on break a couple of times, it works great. i figured out that the blinking is because it has an s.o.s. and just straight blinking feature.

I'm a huge streamlight fan, I've got an Ultrastinger in the truck and in my toolbox at work, a Strion in the pocket of my carhartt pants, and one of those Stylus Pro lights in my shirt at work. Between those and the LED light that snaps onto my rechargeable batteries for my snap-on cordless tools, I'm never looking for a flashlight.

I have used and trusted Mag-Lites for my whole life. Great Lights especially the new LED Bulbs that you can get for them. Great Run Times and pretty bright.

If you want a really bad *** light though and don't mind spending some money then SureFire is the way to go IMHO.

Never heard of surefire but they look like good lights. I dont mind spending money on a good light since i use it all day every day. The streamlight i have goes for about 150 on a tool truck but police get it discounted so i got it for $85. Probably use it more than any other tool. I walk around looking for work all day so it helps when glancing at brakes and shocks when the wheels are on the car.

I just ordered this one. My buddy who is a Marine has quite a few of these. Different models of course. This one can be used as a Self-Defense Tool too.

Here...

200/5 Lumen output is a whole lotta light! Got the colored lenses, diffuser and lanyard for it too. I want to find some really good rechargeable Lithium Ion Batteries for it though. The only rechargeable ones they offer are Nickel Metal Hydride which are ****. Doesn't make sense.

Streamlight Stinger. I'd go LED but I have ended up with a few of the regular ones for free. The LED isn't so much better that I need to go and buy a few. Maybe next year!

This is what I use.

http://www.surefire.com/M3LT-CombatLight

I have used probably a dozen or so Surefires, and have never been disappointed. They aren't well known for battery life though. I have a Mag Lite in my truck along with a Surefire. I also have several Surefires around the house that I've accumulated on deployments over the years. Surefire hands down.

edit*
That E2DL is also a very nice light at a fraction of the price. Unless you are clearing rooms anytime soon, it's more than you'll ever need. Hell it's probably more than you'll need even if you are, haha.

Surefire G2 for me. About the length of a mini mag, but a little bigger in diameter - made of really durable plastic.

If you're still using a Mag lite, and you see a surefire, you'll be amazed. You do need to make sure you use it sparingly, though, because the batteries only go about an hour.

I saw the Surefire G2 LED the other day, but couldn't see shelling out $69 for it.

Iv used my stinger for about 5 days straight now. Today i left it on for about 30 minutes straight and its still going strong. Im off work tomorrow so i just put it on the charger and locked it up but it really didnt need it. Not to mention theres another fully charged battery pack on the piggyback waiting for the other one to die.

Cheapies because they tend to wander off at inopportune times and $100 flashlight isn't hi on my list of things to lose and have to replace.

Who/Where/What has the best bang for the buck LED conversion bulbs.

Please furnish exact link or specific supplier name, so as I might be able to find
what you suggest.

Also, a Mag-Lite Rechargable, like the cops used in the 80's and one Mag-Lite AA Mini Mag.

Thanx's for sharing this, This is what i love about the garagejournal, i keep finding things that i did not know existed. i ordered 4 of them on this fine day. I will give a review when they come in. Here is my trusty pentagon light, very powerfull, yet the company has went to the wayside.

I wouldn't have wasted the money on the striker, that will be another thing that collects dust in your box. Would be best to find a light with magnet and flexable arm.

BTW if you watch the video that model claims to be a professional mechanic, that is more than likely a total lie, if she is a professional mechanic I want to know the shop she works at.

I got tired of not having the perfect light so I made my own. It is all aluminum and Hex tial cap so it will not roll and recessed switch so I can stand it up on end. It has a 3 mode driver with Low, Med, and High and when on high puts out 350 lumins which is 3 times brighter than a incandescent stinger.

Dont rain on my parade, for $7 if they dont work, no big deal. I will give a few away to friends and probably lose the rest any way.

Here ya go. http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=100 I use this Streamlight, a Fenix LD01 for a caplight, and a Surefire L2.

Cool flashlight, but that thing is $40-$55! Too pricey to have a few of them placed in certain places like the Striker Light Mine.

Don't worry, you'll use them a lot. I have one in my tool box, glove box, garden shed and entertainment center. I use them often.

My only complaint is I wish they made a slightly bigger model. But, these are the perfect size for what you plan to use them for.

You can buy the LED Bulbs almost at anyplace you can buy Mag-Lites. The Bulb costs as much as the light but when you find a deal on a Light combo it is the best deal usually. Sporting Goods Stores, REI, Hunting, Home Depot, Costco...ETC...

I would suggest to stick with the OEM Mag-Lite Products with their lights. They don't make them known about because they KNOW they will never sell you another Bulb in your Lifetime unless you actually damage the BULB itself! This will basically take their Bulb Sales off of the market. LED's will last forever pretty much. They work great and they extend the run time of the Batteries by a Zillion hours.
