Roll into the parking lot on his scheduled time with a new to you snap on box on the back
4 year old 1023 LOADED with snap on, Mac and Milwaukee Guy got out of the bussiness
Did the deal and loaned the $$& to a younger employee who has a big cart and has been slowly adding tools

He told 3 months ago he had 4K for a box and to find him a used one for a deal. This deal came yesturday, made it happened and had him run over there with me this am and grab it for him. Was over his budget but we helped him out

Mac guy actually helped unload of the truck before he started ribbing the guy. Said to make sure we tell our jackass snap on dealer that we bought it from him
Even came with radio, creeper, creeper seat

That's a decent deal. One of my coworkers picked up a 1023 new off the truck on "special" for $7k. I think my rep was asking $4k for a used 54" masters and it was on his truck less than a day.

If you ever worked on one, you never want to eat off one

I actually have done some work on one and worked a bunch of restaurants so I know exactly what you mean. Went with a client to look at a restaurant he ended up buying. Was one of the fancier steak houses in the area that I had eaten at a few times. The kitchen was one of the worst I've ever seen. Something you would expect from a crappy burger joint. Grease everywhere. Like you would see on bar rescue or kitchen nightmare tv shows. Ended up gutting pretty much everything even though the building was only 12 years old.

That is the truth. I used to do NaturalGas leak repairs for the local utility company. One night a call comes in for me for my favorite restaurant. I called the dispatcher and begged them to send someone else. Otherwise I would never have been able to eat there again.

I got to know a lot of guys from the trades, plumbers, coca-cola installers, and the towel services like cintas. Guys that go in a lot of restaurants every week. When you talk to them they will tell you exactly what places to never eat in again.

I went in the back kitchen area of a renowned American Chinese food restaurant located in a suburb with the highest per capita income in the state. The stuff I saw that day made me unable to eat Chinese food for many years after. It made me wonder what that health department restaurant inspection program was for. Thank god for Thai food!

I find if you save their *** a time or two, the catering rigs usually offer exceptional service at a great price.

I was working production at a music festival, which doesn't pay like regular work, but isn't hard, and gets you in free. One of the catering rigs (converted airstream) has a charging fault that lights the vehicle connector on fire while backing into their spot. I'm usually free to take a break and practice my mechanic trade. It helps things run smoother and make up the pay gap.
So I fix some ******* wiring error, and rebuild the 7 pin. She was pretty hot having just paid some shop 400 miles away over $1000 to screw up her wiring. I was only out half an hour and a few consumables from the electrical box, so I came in with a no charge. Years later I still get a $20 plate just for walking up.

Having worked in both commercial kitchen and build n repair mobile food service rigs, the mobile ones here face tougher standards, although any specific result will depend mainly on workplace culture.

I really like that cranberry color... I was looking for such a box when we decided to move. That move probably saved me a fortune!! --lol--

As to fast food and "temporary" establishments - Back in the old days I worked in all kinds of foodie joints, and... it all depends on who's running it. You get someone who gives a damn, it's spotless and you can eat off the, well, counters... (I was going to say floor, but that's a little extreme). It also depends on the venue and county - some inspectors take their job deadly seriously, some are in it for a healthy bribe for an instant pass.

BTW, my favorite of all time Chinese place was run by this couple, she was from NW china, he from SE... the kitchen was RIGHT IN FRONT of you (IIRC the place was originally a lunch counter), the entry door was in line with the kitchen line, and yes, it was immaculate. All the time. (And the food would blast you out of your socks)

About 10 minutes away was another place that was take out and delivery only... they (eventually) got shut down (tho this had been going on for a while 🤢🤮) by the health department when a couple of their inspectors were suddenly replaced (rumor it was for $$$) - the kitchen staff were, um, "relieving" thmselves in the woks... while cooking... and they thought it was a joke to serve the "pee pee food" to dumb white people...

Yeah, it takes all kinds.

Mac dealer is an extremely jealous tool guy. He gets all **** hurt if he sees you have a new snap on/Matco tool instead of one of his macs. He is the best dealer we have though... So for us to show up with a new to the kid snap on box full of snap on, Mac, Matco tools while Mac guy was there trying to sell him tools was a slap in the face to him.... especially since he helped the kid unload it off the rollback

His only request is that he tells the snap on guy he bought it used off the Mac truck so that way the snap on guy feels equally upset. Our snap on guy doesn’t know tools, used to sell golf Clubs, can’t fix a ratchet and gets upset with you if your not buying new tools every week. It’s all about sales sales sales with him.

Got it, I think? You guys asked your Mac guy to find a deal, but you found this deal without him, and he showed up while you were unloading it, correct?

I don’t understand what’s not to understand with the OP?

It was a pretty straightforward post.
I thought…..

MAC guy helping unload the Snap on box even though he’s pissed shows he must be a pretty stand up guy
I could do business with a guy like that…

I know people are going to call me a grammar nazi, but this post is incomprehensible. I’ve re-read it a few times and mentally added some punctuation, but I’m still not able to follow the story.

Thank you for the explanation, I have never been on a Mac tool truck. I don't think I have a local Mac representative.
